'tis the week before christmas and all through freya's life, everyone wants to hang, and jp bakes with his wife....

ok, how is it that i have nothing to do for weeks, months at a time and then am suddenly overrun with plans/requests for plans/cleaning/baking/wrapping agendas? in the past week, 3 people whom i haven't seen in at least a month or two asked me to hang out sometime this week. i've had this week's plans since the end of november and i can't possibly squeeze it all in.
the irony of it all is that i could've been done doing what i need to do this week weeks ago. but it sucks to get christmas done early and then have nothing to do for a week or two! so i planned this week to be wrapping/baking week. only, i made a small mistake. i intend on giving away cookies to some of my coworkers for christmas. jp's last final is on wednesday, my last day of work is thursday. so i decided that jp and i could reconnect over christmas baking on wednesday, thursday, and friday. i'm envisioning flour fights, shmearing of icing on noses, and happy kittens dancing at our feet (or more likely, dancing on the counter (if you plan on eating our cookies, please ignore that last statement)). doesn't that sound joyous and cliched? and don't forget sting singing 'i saw three ships' in the background. i've been looking forward to this plan since i came up with it, shortly after thanksgiving.
ok stop. does anyone else realize where i went wrong?
well, if not, i'll point it out to you. MY LAST DAY OF WORK IS THURSDAY. i'm giving these cookies away on thursday. this leaves wednesday to bake with jp. grrrrrr.
so yeah, we'll get it done. i hope. i've never made 7 different kinds of cookies in one night before. luckily, several of the doughs can be made ahead of time, saving me some aggravation. but this means no flour fights!
i'll have to be content with icing schmearing.
