the big purple couch is a slut

jp and i went furniture shopping. we went to la-z-boy because they're going out of business and we were hoping to score a deal. unfortunately, 'going out of business' meant 25% off. so chairs that we originally would never dream of affording are still too expensive. and i hated the salespeople there. they're the type that follow you around and prod you into buying things. it's like shopping for a car, except instead of getting to test drive something fun, you just get to sit in chairs. totally not worth it.
so then we went to roomful express. sure, it has a bad jingle. yes, i've encountered a really creepy salesguy at one of their stores who had shoulder length greased back hair and thought shannon and i were lesbians. but if you don't have much money and want a chair that you don't have to assemble, it's where you go. so we wandered around and sat in every even remotely attractive chair that wasn't leather. and we narrowed it down to two...then one! we bought a chair! and an ottoman!
yes, it was still expensive (at least i think so. we bought like 6 pieces of furniture at ikea for that price!). yes, we got suckered into the 'fabric protection'. but it was our first big furniture purchase together, and i'm excited for tomorrow, when they bring it to my house. and even more excited for saturday, when we rearrange all the furniture.
in case you were concerned, the big purple couch will be returning to todd, after 3 years abroad. it may be large, uncomfortable, not really purple anymore, and kinda broken in one spot, but this couch is a legacy. it's like that girl that dated every guy in the group.
yes, i just called the big purple couch a slut.
